So you’ve decided to have a couples boudoir session at London Boudoir – and you’re wondering what really goes on during one!
As a boudoir photographer, I understand that the idea of a couple's boudoir session can be a bit daunting for some clients. One of the most common concerns that I hear from couples is about how intimate the session will be and what we will be capturing during the session. I would like to take this opportunity to address this concern and provide some insight into what you can expect during a couple's boudoir session.
Ok, now that we've addressed the elephant in the room, let's get to the real details of a couples boudoir session. It actually is really fun, amazing, and empowering in a whole new way. What is beautiful is that you get to explore a whole new side of you during a couples boudoir session, as does your partner. Working together with your partner during a couples boudoir session is very empowering and helps you to discover new things about yourself and your partner that you never knew existed. How cool is that?!
First and foremost, it's important to understand that a couple's boudoir session is all about capturing the love and connection that you share as a couple. The goal is not to capture explicit or intimate moments, but rather to capture the romance and beauty of your relationship. During the session, I will guide you both through a variety of poses and compositions that are designed to highlight the love and connection that you share.
Before your session, I will schedule a consultation with you to discuss your vision and preferences for the shoot. During this consultation, we will talk about the type of images that you would like to create, as well as any concerns or questions that you may have. This is also a great opportunity for me to get to know you and your partner better, which will help me to create a more personalized and intimate experience for you.
All couple sessions start with champagne and lots of laughs - we absolutely love making our clients feel welcome and relaxed and putting them at ease in front of the camera. This is incredibly important because it builds trust and makes you both more relaxed during your session. When you have a good connection with your photographer it allows you to be more spontaneous and free to express yourself. When you feel relaxed you also look more relaxed in your images and that is what we strive to achieve with every couple we work with.
A couple shoot is different than regular boudoir because here the posing is actually more communication driven and less based on the traditional “posing” that we see in boudoir shoots. We give you the starting poses and fun games to play to help you communicate with one another and really understand each other on a much deeper level. Also in a couples session we focus more on the connection that the two of you have together than on the body itself which is something we don't do in traditional boudoir shoots. In a couple's shoot, the goal isn't to make you feel like you look like a supermodel or object of desire but rather to highlight how you and your partner connect and show your true selves to each other. We want each image to show a moment in time that is honest and raw and unique to the two of you. We want you to have fun and be yourselves, and most importantly we want you to forget the camera is there! Couples sessions are messy, silly, and totally and completely fun... we love to see two people in love truly enjoying themselves with each other and letting their guards down.
Our sessions are more like a couple therapy session where you become vulnerable in front of each other and have the opportunity to express yourself in ways that you just wouldn't do during a typical day as a couple. Your session is completely about you and your relationship, allowing you to be creative and playful with your partner and express your love in a way that you might never have before.
We're lucky to get to work with couples who have already built a strong foundation and have each other's backs no matter what life throws at them and who are constantly looking for new ways to show their love for each other and celebrate their bond. We love to be able to provide them with an outlet to do that in a fun and creative way and show the rest of the world what an amazing and unique relationship they have!
